Closure torque (9 videos)

The Vortex-dV is a versatile and affordable torque testing system, comprising a precision-controlled motorised stand with a choice of torque transducers, an AFTI digital torque display and data capture unit, and a range of grips and fixtures.

The release torque and extraction force of sparkling wine closures is measured with a Mecmesin CombiCork tester fitted with pneumatic clamps to hold different sized bottle securely in place.

The opening and closing torque on lipsticks is tested using a Vortex-i PC-controlled torque testing system. The torque tester is fitted with custom designed adaptors to fit different sizes of lipsticks.  The Vortex-i is driven by Mecmesin's Emperor Torque software, which gives immediate indication of "Pass" or "Fail" for each type and size of lipstick.  Results can be seen in real-time and stored for future use.

Mandrels are used when measuring the opening and closing forces associated with caps and closures on bottles, jars and other containers.  The mandrel grips the closure evenly and uniformly minimising distortion.  When used with Mecmesin's computer controlled Vortex-i motor driven torque measurement stand, readings can be made accurately and repeatably.

Mecmesin's digital torque testers are used to measure the mimimum application torque of Child-resistant closures according to ASTM D3810.  The Tornado is a portable, battery powered hand operated instrument can be used anywhere, while the motorised Vortex-xt torque tester provides a constant test speed for reliable repeatability of testing.

Mecmesin's digital torque testers are used to measure the reverse-ratchet torque performance of child-resistant closures according to ASTM D3472.  The Tornado is a portable, battery powered hand operated instrument, while the motorised Vortex-xt provides a constant test speed for reliable repeatability of testing.

A Mytik Combi Cork Tester is used to measure the release torque and extraction force to test standard ISO 9727 of corks and bottle stoppers.   A versatile fixture enables a range of bottle sizes to be fitted to the tester.

The opening torque on containers fitted with child-resistant closures (CRCs) is measured with a semi-automated Vortex-d motorised torque tester with a top-load capability for applying set loads during torque testing. The Vortex-d has been fitted with pneumatic actuators to clamp the bottle cap and raise and lower the top-load weights.  The Vortex-d has been superceded by the Vortex-dV.

The opening torque on containers fitted with child-resistant closures (CRCs) is measured with a Vortex-d motorised torque tester with a top-load capability for applying set loads during torque testing. Using a motorised torque testing system ensures repeatable and accurate test results, in comparison with manual torque testers.  The Vortex-d has been superceded by the Vortex-dV.
